Eulogy might be about how people think that family and friends will speak about them on their eulogy. it's like after your death people can breathe easier and tell others about our hypocrosy or other flaws, though hypocrosy seems to be the main focus. for people nowadays the crucifix might represent the pain and anger people feel when someone speaks bad of them, because everyone is trying to keep up their social status.

I definitely see what you are saying, particularly about the hypocrisy. It seems apparent that the eulogy is for a preacher. More than anything, this seems to go along with Tool's long standing statement that all of us must take our own path. A minister's goals are fundamentally apposed to that view.

Particularly look at the last several lines:
"To ascend you must die.
You must be crucified
For your sins and your lies. [sic]
Goodbye..."

Consider the thought that you cannot cheat your way to paradise. In order to achieve the things that Christ did, you would have to do the things that Christ did. You would have to actually repeat his every thought and action. That's a little uncomfortable, so most people would rather take the hypocritical path, choosing the most comfortable actions to repeat.

For instance, most people, no matter how good a Christian, would not "die for me." As such, they just have a “lot of nothing to say.” Either you are the thing, or you aren't. On or off. Christ or self. More than anything, this song seems to urge the listener to make a choice.

Just a thought...
