I get the clear impression from 'Pushit' that it is on the lines of child abuse.
I see it has someone (not necassarly Maynard) who has been abused as a child and now that they have grown up and have children/or a child of their own that the violent abuse they suffered whilst a youngster is being reflected back in their actions. For example ''Choke this infant here before me. What is this but my reflection?'' (I wanna give more examples but this is a quite post before i go to class) and that he even though he does this he still loves the child. ''Just remember I will always love you, even as I tear your fucking throat away.'' Maybe i'm wrong but this is what I see when i hear/read the lyrics.
This song could also be link to the song 'Prison Sex', as that deals with abuse as a child, but I suppose that is more of a sexual nature but there are some implifications in 'Pushit' of that as well. Maybe Maynard is dealing with past experiences, (I read he was abused by his stepfather?) but i don't think 'Pushit' is about him abusing his child as Devo was very young when Aenima was released, so i don't know. What do you think?
Thanks for reading.....
