Yeah, quite a few of my friends dislike the fat ladies inside...they're perplexed over why someone who place 400+ lbs. people in a cd booket. I think it's brilliant.

To me, the fat lady relates to the bleak theme of the album and the expression- "It aint over til the fat lady sings".

Despite the cries of 'impending doom' throughout the tracks, the fat lady is consoling rather than singing, possibly reassuring us that delving into the ugly and tragic issues of our being is yielding leeway to move ahead rather than it all coming to an end.

if you do some research, you'll find out that her name is Laurie Ann Arden. a year after Undertow was released, she was charged with molestation and is now a sex offender.

she's also not 400+ lbs, she's only 300 lbs... still a fat fuck though.
