Ego Loss

this song might be about ego loss... the lyrics might be talking, in a superficial sense (or literal sense), about evolution (or whatever) but the deeper theme could easily be ego loss... just about every tool song has shallow and deep themes/meanings, take songs like stinkfist for example...

anyway, for those of you who dont know, ego loss is basically when you lose all concious thought... and the buddhists describe this as a rebirth... now, im sure we can all say that 46&2 hints at 'rebirth' quite a lot... and rebirth holds the idea of purification to the body and mind etc.

I take it to be a description of the narrator's confrontation w/what Dr. Carl Jung termed the archetype of the shadow. I think that the loss of the ego could be part of that maybe, but I think that this song is about the Shadow. (don't have time to elaborate...)
