Incase anyone missed it - from toolband.com

TICKETS go ON SALE this FRIDAY, JUNE 25 at 10 am.

does anyone have an idea of how much of the venue was sold (out) last time? like, if you bought tickets later in the time frame when they were on sale, what did you end up with? just want to get a sense of what to expect on friday.

my last tool concert was kind of ruined by bad seating (way off to the side in the back . . sound was really unclear . . this was in toronto last summer), so i might skip the concerts if i don't get something i know will be good.

thanks!

Even though we now know tickets go onsale at ten am on friday - we still don't know where the tickets will be on sale at.

Ticketmaster still doesn't have anything posted :(

I'm gonna go cry now.

Now that they've allowed people who bought tickets for the cancelled Wednesday show to exchange for either Sunday's or Monday's show it's goin to limit even further the seats available for this coming Friday's "re-sale". Only advice I can give is don't snooze on it. Call up TM about 10 minutes before the on-sale at 10am and then have the rep search while you search online. Snap up whichever seats look best (TM reps almost always get better seats than online)

thanks for the information. now, i'm considering shooting for a cheaper ticket, since $85 sounds like a lot. any opinions on nokia theatre itself and the different seating areas?

and does anyone know the price for the different areas? (the range is on ticketmaster, but don't the prices for each section.) thanks!

Ah, Laker/Kobe hatred- aka jealousy because your fave team never wins squat!! I love it!! No matter what you say, we are still the best team in the league and Kobe is still MV frickin P!

Sunday show I'll have a beer with anyone who wants to meet up. If we want to do one inside the venue, there are typically two bars on either side of the merch booth which is usually set up dead center. Just have to pick one to meet around.

Alternately, I live 5 minutes drive away from Nokia so plan is to be at LA Live and line up a bit early so I'll have a crack at special edition t shirts. So if peeps would rather have a brew or 3 outside at some place like the Yardhouse I could easily be persuaded.

I might be interested in the single ticket you have for sale. I live in Vancouver WA and might be flying down to catch the show there and if so I will be searching for a ticket. If you could keep this thread updated on whether you sell them or not that would be great. I should know later this week for sure and I will get back to you on here if they are still availible.

Would anybody be kind enough and able to grab me an unsigned poster for each night? I just know these last two are going to be great! I'm stuck in TX so won't be making it to LA. I don't have the money to be buying them off of ebay but I can pay for the shipping as well as the posters themselves. Any extra money I have is yours too for doing me the favor. I'm willing to pay up to $100 for the set. Please PM me if this is a possibility.

I've changed my mind and decided to wear a tshirt that says, "Dane Cook Sucks"

I think I'll be "that guy" and wear a Tool shirt. I also plan to yell "Toooooool" often during the show and at completely inappropriate times.

So, for meet up, here's what I remember about Nokia

The merch table is straight up the center as you walk inside. Given that it will get insanely busy there early, I think I will line up around 6:30. Doors are at 7:30, I think? Anyone know for sure? Is that maybe not early enough? Someone pls fukin tell me! :P

To either side of the merch booth are two bars, iirc- one to the left and one to the right. I am going to chill at the one on the LEFT (as you face the seating entrance). The line will be stupid long of course. Anyway, you won't be able to miss me- I'll have a goofy white and striped hat on and look entirely too much like a gangly dork with an attitude problem. Easy!

Also, I'll probably be at LA Live around 5pm. Plan is to grab a beer at the Yard House if anyone wants to look for me there

http://www.yardhouse.com/CA/los_angeles/

Quick note- for peeps with my cell number, the damn thing gave up the ghost today (brand new phone too) so don't try and ping me on that. Shoot me a message here instead and I'll check before I go. I know who Kabir and Angel are already but others just keep an eye out for me.

LOL.. Last time I saw Tool @ the Staples Center for the 10,000 days tour, and they most certainly played Aenima!! I'm pretty sure there was some trash talking of LA too, but I was pretty stoned, so I could be wrong.

I know I'm new here and all, but my bf and I would love to meet up with some people as crazy about Tool as we are for some drinks, so if anyone wants to chill before the show, and/or during the opening act, let me know!

edit: I'm sure people here have seen them at the Nokia in LA before and been near my area that I'll be sitting. Just curious if I'm going to have a really good view of the stage from row K of Orch, in the 500 section. Ok, so in preparation for a friend of mine possibly bailing out on me due to work, I may have an extra ticket for the 19th. I am not asking for monetary compensation but it would be nice if you could be my ride as I would have to bus it otherwise and possibly buy me a drink if you are 21+ but neither is required though it would be nice. Since I am giving it away I should be allowed to be at least a lil picky as to who I go with so here are my preferences (and please do not be offended):

Female Tool Fan
Taper
Guitar Player
Jesus
The Dalai Llama

in that order, but if you can mix and match any of those you get further up the list.

Last night just wasn't enough. If they play Intolerance and The Patient, I'm going to be devastated should I not be able to go =( Call me at 661-476-0499 if you can help me!

anyone know where I can pick up a "Kobe's an Adulterer" shirt to wear to the show?

I kid, I kid.

'it's only wrong if you get caught'

i was at a Mets @ Indians game a few weeks ago and a guy had a typical player / number steeler t-shirt. but it was spelled 'rapistburger'.

If anyone wants to meet up for a drink before hand and talk tool, shoot me an email at jdpoaps @ gmail .com (note the spaces, spam protection). I am visiting here from Toronto on business, so I'm heading to the show alone. it'll be my 9th time seeing tool, and didnt want to miss this one. Even if it meant going alone.

I'll have my blackberry on me, so shoot me an email if youre game.

Cheers

For those who were at the show last night, how easy was it to spark up a jammer or 2 once the show started?

NO problems in that area. watch out for dancing bitches that like to knock beer out of your hands, though. =(

Hey, everyone's just having a good time, though with the prices of the alcohol there, I'd be irritated with that too.

I thought the security there would be a little tougher, so I left my stash in the car, but there were plenty of people around sparking up, so I wish I had brought mine.

How nuts were they about cameras? Would I be able to bring in a small point and shoot or is that a no no?

View from the mezz is great. I had row A tix too that I gave away already but, will still be there in orch tonight row x. The good thing about Nokia mezz is not only a great view but you get great lazer effects up there as they shoot above and below your line of sight...

was funny last night as soon as the lights went down I saw no less than 5 people spark up right around me(including myself). I think thats the best time to light up as there were still people heading in and security/ushers are somewhat busy.

There was a point during the show where some people on our aisle lit up and an usher-lookin lady came rambling down the aisle and pretty much just scolded them and left...so keep an eye out if it's later in the show.

I personally didn't see any of this but, apparently cameras were getting confiscated left and right. I had to 'check' my chain and when I went down to get it afterward there was a line of about 100 waiting to get their cameras back...

that being said, not enough were confiscated! Cameras kept popping up in my line of sight...

Were they being confiscated before getting in (i.e. security check/pat down) or as people used them, security spotted them?

Reason I ask, is i'd like to take photos outside of the venue, and not necessarily at the concert itself. I'm not from around here so wanted to take some shots of downtown.

GO TO THE BOTTOM LEVEL FOR DRINKS. There is rarely more than 1 or 2 people in line.

I got a warning last night for using the camera on my phone. meanwhile two rows in front of me this chick never stopped recording on her digital camera,

I was wearing my Lakers jersey last night too!...There were no pat downs, you will just walk inside the metal detector and put your metal items in a canister.

I saw a couple Laker jerseys...even a Vujacic! I also saw a dude wearing a shirt with your "California's finest" black mamba on it. Mine's just a $20 gold shirt with the jersey graphics...

No pat downs. Perfect. I just don't want to have to go back to my car and drop off the cam. Sitting at espn bar, can't wait.

What's funny is that you all can't pick up and/or detect obvious sarcasm.

Truth is, after Third Eye I turned to my gf and told her that just that song with the visuals that accompanied it was well worth the price of admission alone.

But again, obvious sarcasm isn't picked up on by everyone so that must mean I'm "hatin'"

where was the sarcasm obvious? it may have been obvious to you, but to others, not so much.

glad to know you're not really hatin' though! i agree, third eye by itself was well worth the price of admission.

Yeah, we were up in the Mezz and the visuals for 3rd Eye (and the whole show) were freaking retarded awesome. I think even better than if you were at eye-level with the stage.

I think anyone that wasn't in my section, and over 5 foot had a great view, lol. I was in the far left Orchestra section 12 rows back and didn't have much of a view at all. Mostly because I'm short and was surrounded by very tall people. Oh well, though.. The sound was amazing and what I could see blew my mind away. I now know what seats to try to get next time. It was my first time at the Nokia, so I wasn't sure what to expect from my seats or the sound. I would normally never leave to get a drink during the set, but I wanted to see what the view looked like between the orchestra and loge and oh man... I didn't even want to go back to my seat.

The show WAS incredible- this was my 8th show since 1998 and I have to say... it totally was the best. Had a great time- had GREAT SEATS (oh man) and had just enough mushies to enjoy the music/light show while still saine enough to not bring too much attention to myself. The POT, incredible. Although 3rd Eye was my highlight- the 2nd time I heard it live (first time was in San Jose in '98 and half the amps were blown), and it was killer. Not too many boos for the Opening Band either- infact the least I've ever heard at a Tool Show. Way to go LA- never would of thought it.

On a side note- was Adam's riff for Stinkfist different that normal? Like the first half of the song? Or was I just trippin'?

On another side note- during my first venture to the restroom I remember some dude making a b-line straight to a stall and commenting along the way: "Wow man, I'm REALLY tripping now". Good crowd.

I'd just like to say that I'm still riding high in the sky off these two shows. While Reflection is and always will be my favorite song, these two shows topped the times I saw them on that tour. Yeah they play the radio songs, but they also extend each one to cater to the hardcore fans.
