Has anyone seen a show here? interesting why they chose to play there and not the New Joint at the Hard Rock or the Pearl again.
Ive lived in Vegas 8 yrs and never seen a show there.
Curious if anyone has and what they thought of the venue.
Lots of tickets remain, doesnt look like theyre going to sell out 7,000

I have not seen a show at Planet Hollywood's theater. The Pearl in April 2007 was the best Tool concert I'd ever attended. Kinda bummed they're not playing it this time. But maybe PH offers the same kind of vibe even though it's a much bigger venue.

Yeah I was there for both nights of those at the Pearl in 2007.
Last time there was a presale thru TA too.
Awesome shows. Still the best I've seen though were @ Red Rocks in 2001 and Denver Mammoth Events Center in 1996

Yeah, the presales have gone the way of the dinosaur it seems. And maybe the TA message board has as well. I got Pearl floor tickets through ebay for the 2nd show. Way expensive. Guess I didn't learn my lesson, either. I couldn't even sniff golden circle tickets for Planet Hollywood...so i got them through ebay again. Even more pricey this time. But I just get the feeling that Tool won't be releasing more than one more album to tour for, and then it will be over. Especially since MJK stated on an interview for an AZ news station that his body can't take much more, and that his focus will be on wine in the future.

I tried for Golden Circle but didnt get them thru ticketmaster. It was weird , at first I couldnt get anything , then at about 10:20am I got thru and got section 103 row m. good with we.
Is Golden Circle GA seating or reserved?

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be GA. At The Pearl, security was excellent. There were no obnoxious people tolerated on the floor in front of the stage. Probably why it was such a great show for me. I'm betting PH will be the same.

First post- yay me.

I got tickets in section 104. Just to answer the question about Planet Hollywood- I saw Nine Inch Nail's Lights in the Sky tour there back in '08 and this venue kicks ass. Excellent sound- probably the only bad seats are the last dozen or so rows in the 200's section. They have a somewhat obstructed view since the balcony is right over you.

Unfortunately all I could get were tickets in the Z row in 204. Is it really that bad, would it be worth it trying to upgrade?

If you can swap tickets it's definitely worth it. I was underneath the balcony for the NIN show, and it felt awkward with some pillars in the way. We ended up moving into some wheel chair access rows in the 100's section (way off to the left of the stage though), kinda felt like a breath of fresh air. Also could see the whole top of the stage which was a must for the LITS tour, and a Tool show assuming they keep the same lighting/visuals.

Saw NIN there, and can confirm it sounded great and was a good place to see a great show. I'm betting they chose it because it has the grid/space for a larger production, while still holding lots of people. NIN fit their massive video rig in there, with automation moves and everything. This Tool tour they have those moving screens (automation moves) and big sized screens. This venue, next to an arena, is probably the best place in town for it. Pearl is too small and the stage is too small. Joint, I don't know. Haven't been to the new one.

I saw AIC and STP at The New Joint last year. Its much bigger than the old one.
I thought they would've played there. Maybe they got a better deal at planet hollywood since that place is going under.

no its not, they play at the riviera, on the far end of the strip across from circus circus. riviera's actually a pretty good place to play. not too crowded, low limits. and they got single deck blackjack.

i actually really liked playing at planet hollywood. its really flashy and hip, lots of hotness :) id be surprised if its going under, i was there in november for puscifer, and march for 311 day, and it seemed to be one of the most happening places. its one of those mid level hotels like new york new york, mgm, paris, mirage, treasure island. then again, wasn't planet hollywood bankrupt?? i thought all the action stars pulled out and all the restaurants closed lol

I am closer to The Lakes Durango/Oakey area. If you are driving past me I'll buy a round for a ride down there! My wife stopped coming to the shows after the first show at the Palms in April '07. It would save her one trip down. It was a lot easier going to the Palms from this side of town. If you are too fucked up to drive home, we will give you a lift.

I am surprised they are thinking of closing that theater. I speculate that it is because they don't book many acts there. I think it is an in-between size theater that just doesn't appeal to many shows. On one hand you have venues like The Pearl and The Joint for intimate shows and then there is MGM Garden arena and Mandalay Place for big shows. I was surprised how long it took TOOL to sell this one out.

I didn't think so. I did the first in April and the two in December and don't think there was one for the December shows either. I am pretty sure this will be my first time seeing an opening act at a TOOL show if they do have one.
In the past Ive seen them have openers, at red rocks in 2001 it was king crimson, in boulder in 02 it was meshuggah

This one is mine: http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/tix/1846932539.html

This is the first time I had problems reselling Tool tickets. If I was on the fence, I always thought "Im not sure if I am going to this show, but I better buy tickets as soon as they go onsale. I could always resell them for face value to another fan if need be." ...Backfired terribly :(

At least I got to go to 3 shows this mini tour. Lost a lotta money though.

I was thinking the same thing. No problem unloading a good seat... LOL Maybe I'll find someone looking on the way in.

At least you got to see a few shows!
