so... a friend and i are trying to decide whether to go to this show or the OKC one.
any advice from anyone that is familiar with this venue would be appreciated.

we're leaning toward this one, as it seems to be a bit cooler... but what do i know?

Do we know anything about weather this is going to be a GA or seated floor? Ticketmaster didn't have a chart at first and now it's showing one that looks seated. Seems like a small place in decent sized city area to do seats.

The Cedar Park center is new this year. I've been to a couple of Hockey games there. I can tell you that with the size of the place, there isn't a bad seat in the house. It does look like GA is seated.

CP center is 3 miles from house. Standard multipurpose arena. As PTC said, not a bad seat in the house. Reviews of Wilco show there said sound system was just ok. Smallish size for such a bombastic band should make up for any sound issue. Horrible luck trying to get tickets. Had to purchase 2 singles for wife and i, 6 seats apart. Seats are in the loge area directly across from stage and are actually bar stools with a small, 12 inch "counter" between your stool and the remaining loge section below your feet (6 rows deep). These are my preferred seats for Hockey with a bar 20 yards behind us and tons of walking room (must have ticket to access upper area). I was hoping to get tickets in the closer sections but they went FAST. If anyone is considering attending, I recommend looking at this part of the arena (the 200 sections row U). Right now they seem to be the most inexpensive on the ticket broker sites (due to being directly across arena from stage) but given the size of the place, maybe your best value. Just wish the CP area had more pubs/bars for some pre show festivities but we moved here for the "family life" so oh well..

If you want a great brew pub in the CP area then check out The Dig Pub. Its got a nice selection of good beers (no budweiser here...) and the ambiance is more of an upper scale setting. This isn't a dive bar. This pub is located on the death trap road of Cypress Creek and South Bell (old 183).

And to the person debating on whether to go to CP or OK...I recommend CP. It's 20-25 minutes from downtown Austin which is...amazing to say the least. I used to live in OKC, and while I wasn't old enough for the nightlife at that time, I still remember it sucking. OU football is the only thing going for OK.

BEWARE THOUGH PEOPLE!! The police force in Cedar Park is not out to protect you, they are out to GET you! If you dont follow the speed limits then your ass is grass, and the cop is the lawnmower! And you can rest assured that there is one always around the corner... This will be the first of its kind for CP in terms of the type of crowd this event will attract. The storming of the parking lot should be a sight to behold. But BE CAREFUL PEOPLE! They will screw you.

And with that...I got 3 nosebleeders to this show! See you all there!

I am very intrigued by this show at a pretty small venue. Hoping to get a repeat of McFarlin, though that is probably setting the bar too high...Coming down from Dallas, as I saw them at them at OKC last time through. Taking my niece and her friend to the show....damn I am getting old...

Anywho, got me section 122 row B though consider trying to trade up. For the hockey folks, what ever happened to the Ice Bats? And as for Oklahoma, there's a reason why Texas doesn't fall into the Gulf of Mexico. Hook'em

This is going to be a really good show, just because the venue is so small. I got tickets one section away from the stage, 2nd row up, Justin's side. As I stated in the general live discussion thread, I couldn't believe i was able to get tickets that good online through Ticketmaster.

Actually, McFarlin holds just under 2400, and the Cedar Park Center's maximum concert capacity is 8500, so Cedar Park is AT MOST 3.5 times bigger. However, Tool isn't using the maximum capacity concert setup that leaves every seat available. They are using the one that closes off about a quarter of the actual seats, and I believe the floor is seated rather than free standing. So, this concert will likely be no more than 2.5 times bigger than McFarlin...6,000 people...and that is still tiny. I'm excited.

how the heck do you guys get floor tickets? I got mine from Ticketmaster like 5 seconds after they went on sale that Saturday and all I could get were section 122's! Please tell!

SHbassGTR
05-20-2010, 10:54 PM
This time around it was just luck of the draw. It was actually denying us tickets for the first two minutes or so and I honestly thought I wasn't going to get any! And then when we finally did get in all it showed us was the price. It didn't tell us where the seats were or anything. So my buddy said "Fuck it, buy em" assuming from the higher price they were floor. It wasn't until after we made the purchase and reviewed the order that we saw it was Floor 2 row G!

I had the same experience as SHbassGTR. I was logged on right at 10 and the first few times I pulled up tickets it said "None available". I just tried a few more times and were able to pull them up. It just plain luck. As far as Tool shows go, this will be the 6th time I've seen them, and this will be the 4th time on the floor.

You might also want to try closer to the concert date. From personal experience, better seats always come available a week or two before the show. At last year's San Antonio show, I originally had seats in the rear balcony the day they went on sale. I checked TM regulary and was able to pull up the GA floor seats about 5 days before the show.

Does anyone else think that might have been a measure taken to cut down on scalping? I mean only a real fan is going to buy tickets without knowing the exact ticket location. Or maybe they only did this for the center (floor 2) section. I had the exact same experience. I just clicked through because I wanted tickets. ANY tickets. I got floor 2 row AA (after row z). I felt lucky to have gotten them. I cant wait. Cedar park center is SOO small.

SHbassGTR
06-02-2010, 02:24 PM
I would agree that it is a measure to cut down on scalping, because it would make sense in a way. But remember what company we're talking about here. I'm sure it was just a glitch. A company like ticketmaster obviously doesn't give a shit about the real fans of anything. It's all about the $ for them.

Back in 06' during the warm-up tour I paid $800 for a pair of tickets to see them at the McFarlin auditorium in Dallas. It was for 6th row center, and the only time I ever bought tickets from a scalper. Minutes before the show we were in our seats and two guys walked up with identical tickets trying to make us leave. We took it to the box office and turns out ticketmaster double sold the entire row. It actually worked out in my favor becuase we ended up being in a "special pit area" in front of the front row. I was about 4 ft. in front of Justin C. But the point of the story is, this is'nt the first time ticketmaster has screwed up. And with the same band!

I'm excited for this show too. It'll be nice to get away from Dallas for a night. And the venue looks really nice.

Shit yeah I'm excited!! I am hoping for at least a little change in the set list. Maybe something (anything) that hasn't been played in the last 4 years. But it'll be bad ass either way! And I really hope they have more of the autographed posters cause I actually have money for one this year! Can't fuckin' wait!

Dude...yea. I'm really excited. Since there only two shows before this one, I think I can keep myself from looking at the setlist. We'll see. I have really good seats, but this is a great venue in general. Very small, only six months old, excellent acoustics, not in a congested area. 13 days!!!

hey everyone, I will be in dallas for work this week, was wondering if anyone knows of a shuttle or any kind of service between dallas and cedar park. I won't have to rent a car for business, but could do so just to head down to the show. Shuttle or transit seems easiest, but I am not familiar with the area, and my google searches are coming up dry.

any information is appreciated.
thanks,

Public transportation is not a very big priority in Texas. You will have a really hard time getting that far without renting a vehicle.

Excited doesn't even scratch the surface! I read on 'FourthEye.com' that in an interview with RollingStone, Maynard hinted at the possibility of some new material if it was ready. How f'n awesome would that be?
Also, just wanted to comment about how kind real Tool fans are to each other. SHbassGTR and Cheesegreater - you guys are awesome for offering to help another one of our family! See you guys next week!

I can't wait for this. I went to my first show last summer in San Antonio. I was blown away. I did not think they would be touring for quite some time since last summer was the second go around of their 10,000 days tour. I am taking a couple of newbies w/ me and I can't wait to show them how spectacular Tool is. I've seen numerous stabs at setlist changes posted on here, so I guess another fan's opinion wouldn't hurt. I think the setlist stays the same except that Aenema is subbed for something different off of Aenima or Lateralus and Flood is subbed for something different off of Undertow. I would be happy with the EXACT same setlist though.

See you fools Tuesday!
