so, a friend and i are attempting to decide between hitting this show or the one in the austin area.

anyone that can advise me on what this arena/center is like would be greatly apprecaited.

would you say that the sound is better/worse/same as the american airlines center, if anyone knows?

word...

The Ford Center has a pretty decent sound. I've been to probably 10 shows there. It's probably due to the fact that it's a newer arena and originally hosted events when it first opened. It might be a little better than the American Airlines Center, which seems to have a bit of a "hollow" sound to me. But everything can change depending on the soundcrew from band to band. I haven't been to the arena at Cedar Park though so who knows. It seems like it might be a bit smaller though. The Tool show at the Ford Center in '07 definitely sounded great.

So I got floor seats but I'm a little confused... The seating chart that pops up says that the floor is general admission but my tickets have section, row and seat numbers. Which is it?

I just got off the phone with Ticketmaster about this. Because the map they are using has also been changed from when they went on sale to now.

He described a semi circle of standing room right in front of the stage that is standing room. Then behind that there would be seated sections like the current map shows. I'm imagining something like how Nokia in Grand Prairie was set up last time around.

Of course Ticketmaster reps have the credibility of a heroin addict in my book.

TOOLwrench
05-08-2010, 11:15 AM
they did a crappy job of managing this map, they changed it half an hour after on sale while i was pingin the shit out of general admission just to find out theres NOT a general admission, its seated like it was last time they played ford center,i pulled up some floor section 6 but i released them cause i thought it was a mistake,i ended up with fuckin section 104. lower level back of the damn arena. I miss the days of having the front rail at the aenima and lateralus shows. ford center and ticketbastard screw us again!
So what did everyone get?

damnfool
05-08-2010, 11:23 AM
i did the same thing released floor tix and ended up in the rear corner of the arena

TOOLwrench
05-08-2010, 11:36 AM
hey i might be near you,im section 104. if it wasnt for me taking the old lady i could have got a single ticket that was tenth row center..........damnit!
add up all the money ive spent since 1998 seeing TOOL live 7 times and its well over a thousand dollars.

05-08-2010, 12:51 PM

How much were tickets after service charges? Think they'll sell out?

How much were tickets after service charges? Think they'll sell out?

I think mine came out to about $66/$67 per ticket and that was for lower level seating. It really seems like they didn't release tickets for all the sections yesterday, so I'm willing to bet it won't sell out. In fact much better tickets might become available later as new sections are released. Or maybe not, what do I know?

Sct9680

I ended up buying 2 pairs of tickets for OKC... Section 5, row f, seats 3-4 and section 117, row L, seats 11-12. I've never been on the floor for a Tool show. I've always had seats in the lower level around mid-court and I've always loved them. The floor seats I got seem like they would be a great place to watch the show, I'm just wondering if we'll be able to see everything well enough. This will be my girlfriends first time to a Tool concert and I've hyped them up so much, I really want her to get the most out of the experience.

K7_Leetha
05-10-2010, 03:21 PM
I'm going, but I have to wait a bit to get my tix. I don't really care where I'm at as long as I get to go. I'm really hoping for a new set list. If they'll play Third Eye live I can die happy.

There's one hotel thats literally right next door to the Ford Center. I stayed there last time and it was way too pricey for the tiny room I got. They were pricks too. I forgot the name but don't stay there.

K7_Leetha
05-22-2010, 09:05 PM
Think they'll hold out on more good seats, seems like I can't get anything decent in the lower level right now. I know last time like 2 weeks before the scheduled date all of a sudden they had all these awesome seats come up for sale. Ticketmaster...

Can't wait to go! I went last year to see them at the Nokia in Grapevine, and I'm hoping this show will be even better. This will be my second time at Tool, but my friend that got me started going is seeing them his seventh time. I have to start catching up with you guys.

I don't recall the seats, but we're just up off the floor, dead center. I wouldn't want floor seats just because of the visuals. Amazing show!

There has been a few ticket drops for this show. They JUST released section 115 two days ago. They have yet to release sections 106,107,114, and 7,8,and 9 on the floor. These tickets never went on sale. The reason I am sure of this is because there are no tickets on any re-sellers for these sections. If your still looking for tickets for this show, I would probably STILL hold out a little longer for ticketmaster to dump the rest of the sections.

tabula.rassa

K7_Leetha -

I certainly wouldn't guarantee this at all, but I'll tell you that venues will normally reserve a certain amount of tickets for the day of the show... the nice thing about this is that they're normally tickets that are reserved for promotions, or guests of the artist, or something along those lines, so they're normally really good seats. the bad thing is that they're are normally at least a few people who are waiting around, trying to get these tickets specifically, so if you're not one of the first people in line, you probably won't be able to get anything... all of this being said, and given that there will be some pretty cool people going to this show, I don't think you'd be ill-served to just show up, kick it with some hardcore tool fans for a while, and hopefully pick up some tickets that will be really good seats too...

I used the print tickets option for tomorrow's Cedar Park show, and I've used it for various other shows in the past. I recommend it above ALL other methods. They email you a link, you download the PDF of your tickets, and they're all yours...instantly.

Once the PDF is on my computer, I email them to myself. The great thing about this is, they're available to you anywhere. In fact, I left the Cedar Park tickets I printed last night sitting on my dresser at home when I left this morning (I'm staying out of town for work, and going from here to the show), so when I got to my hotel earlier, I just went over to the business center and printed them out again. When I saw Tool in Corpus in '07, I went to a friend's house so we could meet up before the show. One of the tickets had somehow not made it into the folder I had them in, so I just got online at my friend's house and printed that ticket out again. Definitely the way to go; if that option is available, I'm not sure why you would choose anything else. Even if you don't have access to a printer at home, you can run to any number of office supply stores and print them out for only a few cents.

And no, you probably won't be able to buy tickets at the event.

I did manage to record the entire show (audio) hehe. Listening to it now the quality is kindof meh. They were so loud it was a bit much for my tiny mic. I'm going to do some EQ'ing and hopefully I can get it sounding decent and I'll post a link on here so you guys can hear.

Anyone else notice Danny was getting the biggest pops of the night? I'm a drummer. And I mean tonight he was just fucking amazing. I mean we all know he's awesome. But tonight he was just extra good. When he'd be shredding and the crowd would pop, he'd shred even harder. Not one mistake, every stroke full of thunderous power and fluidity. As a drummer I find him to be amazing to watch. I also noticed he was using a different setup than the 2007 tour. Possibly a new cast kit with different tom sizes. He's just fucking good, amazingly, unreal, insert whatever adjative means the best.

Think they'll come back in a couple months and play a Tulsa show? They did on the 2002 and 2007 tours. Plus the new BOK center is awesome and they've never played in it before. Hope so, I want to see them again with this set.
