The most literal way to interpret the lyrics is of course to think of holding on to a grudge. Most of the song is written in a time signature of 5/4, which is just an extra beat added to your standard 4/4 measure. So hold on for an extra beat, hold on to a grudge.... Ah, and thats what you call over analyzing. Over thinking, over analyzing....
