Yeah, signatures aren't bad at all as long as they're not overused. Sure make a lot more sense than user numbers or post counts.

The length sigs should have is inversely proportional to how often you use them.

If you plan to use it with every post, it should only be "peace and blessed be" ;) but if you use it with every thread, then it can be a little poem.

If signatues do come back, I think they should be limited to
3 lines like holy reality said, along with a character limit to
prevent word-wrapping from bringing it over 3 lines. As for
long sigs for new threads, they can be posted manually.

When I used to mod a forum back in the day, we eliminated sigs because everyone kept breaking the damn sig limits so we finally took them away. Yeah, it is a pain in the ass keeping an eye on them all and it takes a lot of time away from more productive stuff. I say let us have sigs but disable them to people who habitually break the sig limits.

We had sigs for a bit, but they were disabled.

I'd like for us to be able to have signatures. A limit on the size and content of course...I figure its the same as having avatars, if someone has one that is inappropriate the mods/admins usally find out quickly enough. Besides links to inapropriate sites, I don't see what could be so bad about having them. Just giving us little posters another way to express ourselves :)
