Another great show - same setlist as last night except they played Swamp Song - instead of Sober which was fine My Warning ment nothing!!- Lots of energy Sound was Great and I loved MJK getting on Danny like a Football coach and whispering Puss Puss Puss He ( Danny ) seems to be at 90% already "Amazeing!!! - Tonight i went by myself which i hate but its Tool and you / I always meet coooool people at shows and tonight again was no exception - Left work early bought a Ticket on Ebay -thanks PadreFan2007 - Stood up top 315A - right on the rail totally looking down on MJK & Adam - instead of last night being on the floor 2ft away from Jesus i mean Justin I mean Jesus - nice to have 2 totally differnt perspectives-- John (soad) and Danny going at it again at the end of Lateralus > was priceless! Once again the ultimate highlight for Me was Wings 1&2 - blessed to hear it both nights -- Seemed more crowd surfing and moshing tonight then last - Had another great experance- 4th time seeing them on this tour 11th time seeing them Live --- Look guys this isnt the same Tool from back in the day - so either you can deal with what there going to play or sell your tickets to people who want to go This is Tool as of 2007 - your not going to see a diverse setlist anymore those days are long gone I Accept them for what they are The best band ive ever Saw heard or Gotten - - 2 Nights 4 hours and i would go again tomorrow night if they played Here ! - Thank you for playing 2 awesome nights at the Pearl - Peace!!! Pay per view here we come>>??

I second that emotion. Nobody bothered to mention that Adam did some awesome shit during schism. I'm going to try and get tickets for San Diego, this is a band that persevered and it just goes to show that even though they are rock gods, they are still human like all of us, and we all make mistakes. LONG LIVE TOOL.

Swamp song was awesome.

Sat in 303 the second night, as opposed to 302 the first. The sound was clearer and more recognizeable. I don't know if that was a product of location or being EQ'd slightly differently.

They are being very serious about cameras apparently. Guy next to me was snapping shots left and right with his flash (like a moron) and got escorted out. Just an FYI for future shows.

Like mentioned, the set-list barely changed. I was just SLIGHTLY disappointed, because of Blair's Ticks n' Leeches and Triad reference on TB.com, but what'd I expect? Still a great, great show (to me) with a lot of positive energy from the band members.

"Had enough, yet? (pause) I'm not talking to you. Danny, had enough, yet? You'd get your ass kicked right now if you quit. (whispering) Pussy, pussy, pussy."

Also, did they record? What was Maynard talking about at the end? I never saw any cameras.

"Pay-Per-View, here we come."

I may be wrong but I'm fairly certain the "Pay Per View here we come" comment was in reference to hotel porn. he made a similar comment after lateralus about them not being finished and that we (the audience) would have to wait to go back to the hotels and the pay per view. i may well be wrong, but that was my interpretation. based on MJK's history of sex-based references and my knowledge of hotel pay-per-view selections.

another irony that struck me tonight was the line maynard does actually sing at the climax of Vicarious - "much better you than I" - with all the recent postings abuot his voice and the fact that he's skipped the "vicariously I live" crescendo for the past ? number of shows, but then he follows up with the next line, it just struck me tonight that it meant its better for the fans to sing that part and let him save his voice.

all in all, i found tonight better than last night. swamp song was killer, glad to finally catch that one live. still disappointed in overall set list, but i'll live. up in 312 tonight vs 203 last night. although 203 was straight on view of stage and ideal audio perspective, i personally liked being above the band and having much closer view. you lose some of the visual impact of the individual members silhouetted against their respective screens, and the tapestry was blocked by the speaker rack, but just being able to see justin rock out and (obviously ) seeing danny do his thing from a birds eye view was awesome. well worth the $$ spent on tickets and two flights out to vegas - hard to bitch about having to come to vegas twice in a 2 month span.

The show was amazing...on friday we were at the rail 10 ft away from danny, and last night we were in the balcony, section 303, 2 seats away from center of the venue, 3 rows back...2 completely different perspectives, both completely jaw-dropping...the sound was phenomenal last night and seeing the whole stage unubstructed was great. I've been to a lot of venues and I must say that the pearl is by far the best place to see a rock concert...the bands performance seemed to be better last night than the night before, but then again, I'm well aware of how much a good mix can give that appearence....Never thought I'd see swamp song live again...thanks Tool...

Last night's show was amazing to say the least. I have wanted to see these guys for at least 5 years and finally had the chance last night. The light show was outstanding. I was in section 303 and about 15 feet from the guy that got taken out of the arena with the camera. I just thought it was funny how the security dragged him out anf let the people in front of me get high. They saw it and didn't even care. Priorities I guess. The set list was great. I know a lot of people complain because they haven't changed it up in over a year, but for a newbie it was spectacular. I loved Swamp song, and starting the concert with Jambi was great. The best part was taking my wife, who is a Madonna fan, and getting her into the entire feel of a real rock show. She handled it great and really made the night special. The only song I really wanted to hear and didn't was The Pot. It just makes me want to see another show. The little "intermission" they took was something I had never seen at a concert. They all collected at the center of the stage and Maynard even laid down and acted like he was trying to sleep. Really different.

i have to say i came in from chicago il to see this show and it was worth every dime i paid. I have seen them 3 times this tour and of course different setlist would be nice. but for anyone to bitch about last nights show is a moron.

from reading post from fridays show, I was expecting them to be a little rusty. But other then a couple spots they played everything with perfection

my highlights of the night was swampsong and the drum off in lateralus.....

How about everyone screaming when leaving the venue and inside the hotel entrance. that place got extremley loud. i bet the gamblers were pissed

Groooooan. Oh my aching head. Let me tell ya, dem Canadians sure can put away some beers! I am paying for it now, fer sure. Ryan and Jason- if you read this, hope you made it home ok! I don't know how you guys managed a 6am wake up call.

As for the show, not much to add to what has already been said. Maynard was super chatty tonight and is definitely having fun riding Danny.

One thing I did want to mention- I felt like Rosetta Stoned was performed as well as they can do it. And thanks to the crystal clear sound of The Pearl, I could actually hear all of MJKs vocals during that one for a change. And he sang the verses pretty much on the beat instead of just rushing through them like he normally does. Truly outstanding.

I gotta get on the road and get back to LA now. Bring on SD!

My personal small review:

The venue is amazing, go if you get the chance. Sound was killer, and they have seperate speakers up on the top for the balcony people, it was great! Not 1 seat has a bad view except probably GA or the boxes directly next to the stage, but still those would be good I'm sure.

Swamp Song ruled, I've had enough of Sober. That was awesome to hear it and they rocked it hard!

The drum jam in Lateralus, holy shit! I was not expecting it to be that cool, seeing as nobody really said anything about it from Friday. It was like 4 minutes of badass drumming with John and Danny, then both of them together. And it was right after I just puffed a fat ass joint in my seat during Wings, so I was going off! I'm hoping to find a recording of at least that song. Lateralus already is one of their best live, and to add that in was just badass.

Tool played everything almost perfect, and were very tight and you could tell they were probably feeling it. I always go to their shows lately being like "Man I wish they'd play something different", but I always leave going "HOLY SHIT". Last night just blew me away, probably a big part due to the venue. Everything was great. The dropping of the Net Of Being backdrop was tight too, I didnt' see that last year.

And the whole place screaming and going crazy in the Casino after the show, that was badass. It was so loud I bet you could hear it all the way through the whole casino floor.

That was was BAD AS HELL. Great job guys.

Wow last night was the perfect Tool show. They were on top of their game. The sound was amazing. The Pearl really does kick ass. I had a kick ass seat and I thought the crowd was awesome. Really into it and respectful. Every one was going off around me in section 204. I found very few people wanting to sit in the whole venue.

Thanks for a great show.

Did I mention how good the sound was.

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned what a "coincidence" is was that for Danny's first shows back there "just happened" to be another drummer there (John from SOAD).

Right, Danny was going off, so if you are thinking he was there "just in case" I seriously doubt it. Danny was doing just fine it seemed. SOAD is from LA, and the Pearl is better than any venue in LA, so he probably came as friends to check out Tool, and rock at the same time.

I was lookin for people from the board here but didn't recognize anybody. Walked by 3 of the bars and didn't hear anybody say anything. Went to the car alone for my pre-show puff, you guys should have spoken up!

I don't think John's presence was a reflection on Danny's injury at all. It wasn't like he was helping him along through the drum sections. It was a "face-off."

That is my bad dude. I thought I saw you but then wasn't sure. I think you moved through the bar I was in pretty quickly. I actually did say "Briz!" but wasn't sure it was you and then you were gone. Still, would have been nice to say 'hello'. Hopefully next time.

Duuuuuddddeeee!!!!! 46&2 was the jhit!!! This guy just comes up along me all pumped up moving with the music and we both just got into it...it was one of those umforgettable moments. I cant stop thinking about it. It was dope.

But about the rest of the show. My overall opinion: Awesome show. The sound was so clear and precise...RIGHT IN YOUR F-ING EAR!!!. I was at ground level and i swear all of us down there were saying how f-ing lucky we were for being so damn close to the band. Danny's facial expressions were intense. Stupid Maynard and his Alien shades. Adam just chilling and being smooth. And Justin, lol...hes a Brit.

Swamp Song was dope. Groovy ass fack and what a treat. John and Danny's faceoff was dope. I personally think John kicked Danny's butt. That was great. Stupid Maynard and his Pay-per-view comments...facking hilarious.

The pit was tight. I was glad to see some idiots moshing a lil. Took some pix on my phone, had to battle with some dude and his flashlight all night...but i manage some good ones. Leaving the venue and going up the stairs and at the entrance of the Pearl, with all the fans yelling at the top of lungs was crazy as well!!! Nice to see how much the fans appreciate Tool.

Thats it for now. I can go all day talking about the show. Peace.

Great show as usual for TOOL. The third time this tour 5th overall. This was my favorite show so far. The venue had to be the best I've been too! I was sitting in VIP box 212, (paid $128), the second box on Justin's side. For the warm up show at The Joint we were about 10 feet from Adam. Even though these seats were farther away the sound was amazing and the view of Danny was perfect. Even at 90% he's still the best drummer around right now, maybe ever! I'm just bummed that concerts have become so restrictive in what you can and can't do. Sure on the floor you can smoke some bud but not in your seat. I guess I will show my age right now but I've been to shows were the security wouldn't fuck with you as long as you din't fuck with anybody else. You have to put your fucking weed down your balls now to get it inside in the first place. There was an drunk fucking idiot sitting behind me that wouldn't stop fucking screaming during wings 1. If he was high he would have just enjoyed...lol. Even if he didn't have any doobige, I always pass to the people around me. Just another reason the terrorist's, I mean the religious right have won!!!! Oh well, time to get off my soapbox. If this was my last TOOL show it sure was a great one to experience. Here's to many more show's, I mean the Rolling Stones are in thier late 60's, anything is possible!! .......watch the weather change.....

After reading a few more posts I guess I should have bought the cheaper seats. Security wouldn't even let my bro smoke a cigarette at the little bar behind the box. Then I sparked up in the box and they came in with "the flashlight". Those asswipes love there flashlights. At the fuckin Joint they busted us smoking on the floor, I mean the whole place is the floor. Way to worried about it. They can't charge you for your own weed so they make you buy drinks at $10.00 bucks a pop. After a concert drunk fuckers get into fights, stoners go to DENNYS!!!

I got some pretty sexy snapshots as well on my phone...my avitar is one of them..or at least should be....and NOONE kicks dannys butt at beating the skins...John was good, and louder, but his patterns were repetitive and constant...not sayin he wasn't awesome...just not epic like danny...

Jambi
Stinkfist (standard version both nights)
46&2
Schism (Extended Version)
Lost keys
Rosetta stoned
Swamp song

Wings
10k days
Lateralus (Extended with John from SOAD)
Vicarious
Aenema

Alright so last-night and friday were great shows what can I say it's Tool live. Saturday was for sure better then friday ,they were tighter just really together Maynard seemed to be in a good mood both nights but was definitely feeling it more on saturday and SWAMP SONG was nothing short of AMZING!!. Saturday was my 8th TOOL show, 5th this tour and my first time hearing it live just a great song done very smooth for not being a standard set-list song But would it hurt to mix it up a little ,so ok they did the same set-list both nights in the same ORDER they just switched sober for swamp song they had to know allot of people would be going both nights they could have at-least switched the order of the songs just to keep it different without doing much also I did notice Justin didn't put up his lighter the second night thats the first time this tour I've seen him not.

And as for john being there to cover for Danny thats bull-shit cause I have a bootleg of the last show they did in GREECE this tour and they did the same thing during lateralus with Mastodon only the guitarists for mastodon came out and played guitar solo's on top of there drummer and bassist coming to the stage to lend a hand.so the only coincidence I see here is that that's what they did the last show they played before these two. Every thing we are seeing now the stage, set-list everything is the same as the over seas shows were... I don't know Im just a-little bummed I was really hoping they were going to trade Rosetta for Right in Two the second night but all in all they were both very good show's not my faves ,actually I have yet to see one show this tour that has out done what they did the lateralus tour every show I saw in 01 and 02 blew me away the set-list were just amazing and Maynard put out so much more energy slam dancing every-were all painted up it seems like he just used to feel the music more... But O well I guess that was then. Well I still have Tucson next sunday Maybe after a day of stomping grapes maynard will be in a great mood and pull out some right in two.

Sorry if some people don't like what I wrote but its time to face facts they arrant doing things like they used too and I do blame Maynard for that he is just so caught up in pusifer and his winery he just doesn't put any time into singing his Tool song's. That dude that runs ToolBand even threw up that post

HBD... MJK

Enjoy, sir... maybe take a day off from the Puscifer thing. On second thought, why would you want to do that!.. Enjoy, sir...

He just cant sing the way he used to so there reduced to these standard set-lists he knows he can perform but still has a tough time every now and then he cant even finish vicarious himself thats the third or fouth time I have seen him skip that part as well as the la la la la la lie part.
And he shouldn't have to save his voice they have been a band for 16 plus years they only have 5 cd's and tour every four years. And he just had a 3 month break to warm up or do what ever he does so there no excuse other that he just cant do it anymore and as for Parabola he sucked at singing that song back in 01 & 02 (one of my faves live though) I have so much audio and video of his voice cracking in that song.

So you can hate on me if you want but its the truth so face it and so it is understood TOOL is more than just some band to me, there music and what they do changed my life and my aspects on life embracing there music was one of the best things I have done in life and its just sad to see it turn into what they talked so much shit about (being against the radio and MTv but then turning around and doing every radio hit they have for a set-list) Its just depressing when I start to think about everything but I will never give up on them or miss a show I can make it to. all in all if you an old-school TOOL fan don't go expecting too much as far as a set-list goes just except it and don't expect anything like the Aenema or the lateralus tour.

That's all fine, but it didn't happen in Japan.
The thing with Mastodon happened in December, at the end of the European tour, in Athens, Greece.

Pretty sure that was a reference to Adam's talk-box mishap in Jambi.

I know complaining about the set list is sort of the hip thing right now, but I don't see how there can be any complaints about these performances overall. The second night was the best show they have done so far this tour. Near perfect on almost every level.

If I did have one complaint about song choices, it would be that they did not do either Right In Two or The Pot. And for those saying that Maynard can't hit high notes anymore or whatever, The Pot pretty much dispells that since it's obvious that one really taps him vocally. I think we will get it at some point this tour, just hope it's one of the upcoming concerts in SD.

I was sitting in the center, 3rd row behind the sound booth and had a completely unobstructed view. I couldn't have dreamed of anything better. This was by far the best Tool show I've ever witnessed. The energy at The Pearl was just amazing. Probably because it was such a small venue and everyone there was just so excited to be in Vegas for the beginning of the tour. I didn't go the first night, and maybe people talked more about the new visuals on the other thread, but I was much more pleased with the new ones than the ones on the last leg.

The high points for me were forty-six & 2, lateralus, and aenima. My only disappointment was Rosetta Stoned, which the majority of the verses were muddled. Maynard pulled it off better this time than when I saw him do it in LA back in September, but it was still an issue. It was still great to see any Tool song though. I have no complaints about the overall experience. Whenever I see Tool, it feels like a spiritual awakening.

Was I the only one who noticed that in the beginning of Lateralus he was singing it higher than he usually does? He then reverted back to a lower voice in the middle, but I found that interesting. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves up there. I know we were.

I went with my brother and really enjoyed the whole night. The sound was amazing, the crowd was really respectful and completely into the cohesive energy of the concert. Anyone who was there knows what I'm talking about.

I'm not sure if anybody noticed but the little tiny "chugs" on the guitar before the show started, you could hear how loud Adam's amp was without the PA even pumping it. So some people who say the mix may have had Justin or whoever a lil louder, I think it's cuz the place is smaller that we could hear the stage, too, depending what side you were on. Could have something to do with it, but it was great from 303 where I was.

Maynardisms were, as I can remember:
"You're all drunk" for the opener
"WHOOO HOOOO!" Instead of the scream in Stinkfist.
The whole "Youd get your ass kicked if you stopped right now" thing to Danny.
A comment about watching Pay Per View, then at the end "back to your pay per view" or something like that.
Fuck all you junkies and fuck your short memories was said all 3 times in that verse instead of the normals.
He said something before the ending in Swamp Song too but can't remember, then they kicked it back in. That was cool too.

Perhaps a couple others I can't remember but maybe you guys can help.

As far as the burnage, I burned a whole J in my seat to myself cuz the dudes around me didn't want any. I had no issues. I just lit it when security was gone, and blew the smoke down instead of up. Easy. It was nice to sit back and blaze during Wings, that was great.

And about the crowd, from section 303, you guys rule. NOBODY was screaming the lyrics loud as hell and obnoxious, people were just grooving and dancing and it was killer. Thanks section 303!

They also got two less songs. And no Vicarious is a pretty glaring omission. I'm sure it still kicked ass- just sayin.

Yeah actually, I'd take our setlist over this one even though they played RIT. The Reno one seems pretty short.

I saw that. Unbelievable. I suppose it's understandable to an extent but it sucks to know that one guy can ruin it for thousands. MJK apparently refused to even sing the remaining part of Wings after it happened. Seems like a lot of people thought maybe his voice had just given out but I can tell ya, after the Vegas shows, that's not the case. Maynard's voice is just fine (cept for the whole Vicarious thing but that's not what happened in Reno).

ive been going to tool shows for 14 years and i have to say that they are as tight a band that has ever played right now. ive seen a couple of better shows (red rocks lateralus, 96 aenima atlanta and 98? lolla atlanta and bhah when it rained), but these are the only shows that were better than these two vegas shows. good to see maynard more out front and seemingly having a great time dancing, talking etc. i thought his vocals were spot on, and i understand these sets because i agree that it is now pretty much a proven fact that he has to save his voice in able to tour for another couple years. the crowds were, for the most part really good. i was floor justin side first night and tried to remain in my seats in 302 the second night, but im sorry, for me i have to be close so we had to sne4ak down to the floor. luckily i have the skills to get that done. props to all the dudes smoking down since i had to fly out and didnt bring my shit with me. especially mad propers goes out to my main man Joe Chronic (his hat even said thtat) and his never ending joint-a-thon on friday. everyone was cool with me dancing like an idiot and no one even made fun of my clothes, at least not to my face. i meant to buy some shit when i got out there, but kind of just got stuck in the flow and never got around to it so i was dressed like a dork. maybe you saw me, i was the big bro with the shirt draped over his shoulder both nights.

i dont see how yall can say the sound was good up top. it was decent to be that far away, but NOTHING compared to the floor. the view is way better on the floor also, but of course im really tall. ive decided that being on justins side is now my favorite, even though im a guitarist. justin is this bands secret weapon.

anyways, had a fuckign blast, met a ton of killer folks. shouts to justin from the cup flip league. hope you made it back safe. to the hotel i mean ;)

oh and to cap off this incredible weekend, i won so much gambling that i actually got paid for the trip. and i probably spent 1200 bucks or so in four days. vegas rules. i took a ton of pics of vegas if anyone wants. none of the show though.

heard a little story about maynard wheeling up in his lambo and hopping out and just tossing the keys to the valet. its good to be the king.
