The Best Avatar Competition (BAC) is a contest in which the user with the best avatar is chosen. It features a revolutionary voting system.

First, there is a thread were you can subscribe for the contest. Everyone can be in, but for practical reasons, the number of competitors is limited to 64. Some argue that the best avatar may be the one of another user (not involved in the contest), but people who claim so are wrong.

Then, the voting begins in rounds. The group of 64 is split up in 32 battles (1 on 1 combats). Every combat/battle is then fought, one after another, round after round, until only two users are left, who then battle a glorious fight in the final.

There is no poll involved: voting is done by posting the score. Example:

Battle 1: yossaricat vs. Divine left

...

and yossaricat wins.

First of the two users who reaches 12 votes, wins, but there has to be a difference of 2 points, so if it's 11-11 and you vote 12-11, the battle lasts until someone makes 13-11 or it gets 12-14, etc,... . In the first round, it goes to 6 votes. The next round is 7, then 8, 9, 10 and the final is 12.

The voting system is revolutionary, because it does not involve polls. That way, the game moves on very fast, and no discussion is possible on how long the polls should stay open. It's not a democratic system, but it increases the chances for a surprising winner. It also asks 23 brain cells to comprehend the voting system, which makes it somewhat a contest for the above-average user.

Everyone can vote for his or her favourite avatar. You have to choose between the two people who are against each other, you can only vote once per battle, but you may vote in each battle of the round. If you're a competitor: please do not change your avatar during the contest. If you do so and you get caught, you are out. You may not vote for yourself. If you have balls of steel like yossaricat and Tyson, you may vote for your opponent though.

In 2007 the first edition was held. Winner was Rubb. who beat Tyson in an exciting final. Divine left finished third, yossaricat fourth. Some claim the victory of Rubb.'s avatar (which featured tits) over Tyson's (which featured jizz) only proved that there are too few ladies on the board. Others claim that the balls of steel that Tyson and yossaricat have proven to have, weighted them down.

[edit] Controversies

The voting system sparked some controversy among some users. A lot of people felt that the amount of votes required to win [6 in first round] was too little. An alternative and perhaps more effective way would have been to have individual polls with an expiring deadline to vote.
